This report is the direct result of the conservation efforts of the Norfolk Land Stewardship Council, and Dave Reid (Coordinator) in particular. The Waterfowl and Wetlands Initiative for Long Point Country was funded by Canada Trust's Friends of the Environment Foundation (Simcoe and Delhi branches), the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture and the Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Fund. I would also like to acknowledge the input of the members of the Steering Committee (Mike Columbus, Ron DeSerrano, Mike Downing, Linda Vandendriessche, Roger Geysens, Chris Poff, Lawrence Christian) and Technical Committee (Michael Bradstreet, Darrell Dennis, Dave Ankney, Bob Clay, Gary McCullough, Dave Holmes, Dave Richards, Angus Norman) for the Norfolk Land Stewardship Council, Waterfowl and Wetland Initiative. Mary Ellen Hebb also provided many valuable comments on the report. I thank Andrew Couturier for performing the Geographic Information Systems work, and ESRI Canada Limited, Don Mills, Ontario and ESRI Inc., Redlands, California for the donation of software and technical support as part of the ESRI Conservation Program. Frank Yalaksa helped by obtaining numerous documents and Ron Ridout produced the cover page. Richard Knapton, the former Research Director of the Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Fund, and Kerrie Wilcox put much time and effort into the collection of several of the data sets used in this report. John Marchington graciously provided harvest data from the Long Point Waterfowl Management Unit check station and Charles Francis provided banding data. In addition to those mentioned above, informative conversations with Jon McCracken, Steve Wilcox, Ron Ridout, Jeff Robinson, and Norm North helped me develop and produce this report. I especially thank my wife Valerie and son Noah for allowing me to use up so much of their time in writing this report.
