its First Meeting at Backus Heritage Conservation Area
On November 30th, 2010 fifty biologists, government representatives and graduate students converged at the Education Centre in the Backus Heritage Conservation Area near Port Rowan. Coordinated by the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve Foundation, the meeting was an opportunity to provide updates on research and conservation projects being carried out in the boundaries of the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve, and to network and exchange ideas with colleagues. Organizations attending include the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bird Studies Canada, Long Point Stewardship Council, Long Point Region Conservation Authority, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Environment Canada, Carolinian Canada, and Long Point Waterfowl.
