Welcome to the Fall 2025 edition of our Biosphere Beacon e-newsletter. As autumn settles over the Long Point region, we are proud to share news of some of the inspiring work, events, and collaborations that have shaped the past season and will guide our work for the future.
This fall, we’re looking forward to the 2025 Biosphere Research and Conservation Conference, which will bring together scientists, community leaders, and conservationists to share knowledge and inspire action. On the ground, our Foxsnake protection initiatives are gaining interest and will help reduce threats to this vulnerable species and improve habitat connectivity.
Community engagement continues to thrive. We hosted a special book event with author Stephen Selk on the history of the Long Point Company, highlighting our region’s unique ecological stories and links to the Gilded Age. Our partnership with Long Point Eco-Adventures led to the exciting launch of a turtle hatchery which will boost survival rates for local turtle populations. Meanwhile, our shoreline restoration project earned recognition in many quarters including the Ontario Horticultural Newsletter, which drew attention to the power of community-led habitat restoration.
Strategic partnerships are also growing. We are excited by our collaboration with Georgian Bay to strengthen planning efforts, and we’re proud to see Long Point featured as a leader in eco-tourism promotion locally.
As we build on this momentum, we are grateful for your support which has made every one of these achievements possible.
Warm regards,
Long Point Biosphere Region
