Whistling Gardens

What better way to kick off your morning than a visit to our local botanical garden, Whistling Gardens!

Home to North America’s largest public peony collection revealing over 1,000 varieties on display, 4 km of accessible walking trails, musical fountain show, exotic bird aviary, prescheduled educational tours, nature workshops and garden art exhibits.

Picnics and cameras are welcome!

Tips:

  1. Visit the website to see what is in bloom. Peak season for Peonies is May to mid-June.
  2. Plan on attending a fountain show (runs twice daily on weekdays and 3 times daily on weekends).

The Gibbled Goose

After a morning of walking and exploring, make your way to The Gibbled Goose for lunch. This restaurant is a delightful British pub located in the beautiful town of Waterford. They have a great reputation for bringing you fresh food, a warm welcome and cold beers.

Kayak on the Pond

While you are visiting Waterford, make your way to the ponds! One of them is located right in the center of the town and is surrounded by the Waterford Heritage Trail. Take a stroll or get adventurous with a kayak tour. Connect with Waterford Paddle Sport for rentals.

The ponds tend to be very calm so it's a great place for beginners!

Waterford Heritage and Agricultural Museum

Complete your day with a visit to the Waterford Heritage and Agricultural Museum (WHAM) only a few steps away. This site exhibits the rich social, industrial and agricultural history of the area through the use of interactive and engaging exhibits. This is the perfect place to learn about the deep roots of Norfolk County!
