Youth Summit

2020 Youth Summit for Mother Earth

Ontario Nature’s Youth Summit is an annual gathering that started in 20210 to engage young leaders from dozens of communities across the province. For the 2020 Youth Summit, Ontario Nature, the Indigenous Environmental Institute at Trent UniversityPlenty Canada, and Walpole Island Land Trust partnered with Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth leaders from across Ontario to offer a unique cross-cultural event.

Prioritizing the health and safety of participants and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic was their top priority so they needed to offer an alternative to the annual in-person Youth Summit in September.

Through conversations with Ontario Nature’s youth leaders and their Indigenous partners, they decided to deliver an engaging online event series to develop leadership skills, connect youth with like-minded peers across cultures and build momentum for youth action.  The Long Point Biosphere Reserve was proud to sponsor young people to experience this amazing event.
